EASTER SUNDAY: You Can Stop Searching Now
by Father Brian J. Soliven on Sunday April 17, 2022
Enter Easter Sunday. Enter into the resurrection. The death of Jesus Christ was thought to be a triumph of the Pharisees and Romans. However, through the power of the Holy Spirit, Christ bursts out of the stoney tomb. Each of us who constantly search for the answers to our deepest fears can finally find rest. There is no greater privilege than to be a Catholic alive in his faith. I say it again, there is nothing grandeur, more adventurous, more challenging than to follow Jesus Christ to the gates of death. If I persevere to the end and pick up my heavy, splintering cross, then I too will also explode out of my tomb. In the mean time, I shall stare stouthearted and resolutely at my fear. I’ll squint my eyes and maybe even smirk a little. Then with all my Christian might, I’ll yell from the top of my lungs: "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” (cf. 1 Corinthians 15:55)
