Demons and the End of Marriage: 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Jesus couldn't be more clear: we're all locked in spiritual warfare. He tells us bluntly in Luke 22:31, "Satan has demanded to sift all of you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your own faith may not fail..." The name "devil" itself, is derived from the Greek work diabolos, meaning "to throw apart, to scatter." Our true enemy seeks to divide our churches, our families, our relationships, and most especially, to keep us away from God himself.
Marriage, on the other hand, is brilliantly revealed as the antithesis to the devils plan. Husband and wife are called to witness to Jesus' own unifying love for his body, the Church (See Ephesians 5). That is why in this Sunday's Gospel, Christ baffles the Sadducees and teaches that marriage is no longer needed in Heaven. The perfect union that marriage is meant to point to has been realized. God and humanity has been reconciled. Our holy communion is finally complete.

The following prayer was given to me by an excorist years ago. Make this a part of your daily prayer regiment.
Laity Prayers of Protection
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the power of His Precious Blood, I Bind Satan over my Family (list persons), property, possessions, body, soul and any place or person that I have authority over. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the power of His Precious Blood, I loose Satan over all these areas. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the power of His Precious Blood, I demand you flee Satan, be gone!
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the power of His Precious Blood, I Bind any and all evil spirits, unclean spirits, demons and spirits not of God over my family, property, possessions, body, soul and all areas that I have authority over. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the power of His Precious Blood, I loose you over all these areas. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the power of His Precious Blood, I beg you Lord Jesus Christ, to cast them to the foot of the cross. I ask this In the name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the power of His Precious Blood, anyone or anything that enters wherever I have Spiritual authority, I declare that you are under the complete protection & authority of my Triune God, God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit including the Catholic Church and myself. I proclaim that you will be bathed in the Blood of Christ and anointed with the Grace and Mercy of God.
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the power of His Precious Blood, I bind any and all curses, evil attacks, hexes or spells, over my property, possessions, body, soul and any place or person I have Spiritual authority over. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the power of His Precious Blood, I loose you over all these areas. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the power of His Precious Blood, I beg you Lord Jesus Christ to break them and declare them null and void. Lord Jesus Christ please cast any demons and spirits that would be associated with these curses and send them to the foot of the cross. In the name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Amen!
